Hoya is known by many names: Wax Flower, Porcelain Flowers, Wax Plant. It is a popular houseplant grown for its glossy foliage and sweetly scented wax-like flowers. It is captivating, not only because of its fragrance and waxy appearance, but also because its flowers look like stars gathered in clusters that are also star-shaped.

Hoya australis 'Lisa' is the variegated version of Hoya australis. It is a more upright growing variety, with very climbing stems that are a bit twisted and easily curl up on trellises. The 'Lisa' has a beautiful variegation. Yellow, cream, light green and even peach blend together almost like a watercolor pattern. To maintain this beautiful variegation, Hoya australis 'Lisa' needs very good lighting, otherwise the green color will take over. It can tolerate direct sunlight in the morning, but it should not be overdone, as it can suffer burns if exposed too much.
