Tradescantia fluminensis 'Tricolor'

Tradescantia fluminensis 'Tricolor' (or Tradescantia albiflora) is a beautiful plant with small green leaves with white stripes and a pink-mauve underside. Like most Tradescantia, this plant grows quickly and has a drooping habit. It requires simple maintenance, making it a wonderful addition to any collection.

Tradescantia fluminensis species and cultivars have slightly thinner leaves and stems than their Tradescantiazebrina cousins, and they prefer very bright light, but not direct full sun, which can damage their thin leaves. They also root very quickly and easily in water or soil and are easy to propagate. They are sensitive to excess water and the stems will rot if the soil stays wet for too long, so provide a draining substrate.
