Ficus elastica 'Shivereana Moonshine' is said to be a specimen obtained from hybridization between Ficus elastica (also called Rubber Plant) and Hevea variegata according to some sources. Its large, shiny oval leaves are variegated with cream, white and green, with shades of orange-red on the juvenile leaves. The speckles and mottling are very different from leaf to leaf, making it a very attractive plant indeed. Ficus elastica 'Shivereana Moonshine' is not a difficult plant, but it does take time to adapt to a new environment, so once it finds its spot, it should not be moved. Indoors, it can grow to 6 feet (2 m.) tall, but in the wild, it can become a tree. The light has a direct effect on its variegation. A lack of light will cause the colors to turn progressively green.
