Tradescantia pallida 'Purpurea'(Tradescantia purpurea, Setcresea pallida, Tradescantia pallida 'Purple Heart' or Setcresea purpurea) also known as Purple Misery, has narrow lanceolate, pointed leaves, about 2 to 5 inches (5 to 12 cm) long, very dark purple on top and lighter below. The fairly stout, but brittle, stem is also purple. Like most Tradescantia, this plant grows quickly and has a drooping habit. It is perfect for hanging baskets.
