Philodendron 'Snowdrift' is an exotic and spectacular variety of Philodendron, notable for its unique foliage that captures attention. This houseplant is prized for its large leaves that exhibit intense variegation, mixing shades of dark green with white or cream mottling, reminiscent of the appearance of a snowy landscape, hence its name 'Snowdrift'.

Origin: Although Philodendrons are native to the rainforests of South America, 'Snowdrift' is a horticultural selection, designed to enrich the diversity and aesthetic appeal of Philodendrons as houseplants.

Growth: Philodendron 'Snowdrift' shows vigorous growth, with the ability to develop broad leaves on long stems.

Flowers: As with many Philodendrons grown primarily for their foliage, flowering of 'Snowdrift' indoors is rare. The focus is on its spectacular variegated foliage rather than its flowers.

Light: This strain prefers bright indirect light to maintain the vibrancy of its variegation, but it can adapt to lower light levels. Direct exposure to direct sunlight should be avoided, as it can burn the leaves.

Watering: Watering should be regular, allowing the substrate to dry out slightly between waterings to promote healthy growth. Proper drainage is crucial to prevent root rot.

Substrate: A well-draining potting soil mix is ideal for Philodendron 'Snowdrift'. A substrate for tropical plants, enriched with perlite or vermiculite, will promote the health of the plant.

Toxicity: Like other members of the Philodendron family, 'Snowdrift' contains calcium oxalate crystals which can be toxic if ingested. It is therefore recommended to keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
