Musa maurelli
Musa maurelli, also known as Abyssinian red banana, is a spectacular plant that adds a touch of exoticism and grandeur to any interior. With its broad green leaves edged in crimson red and intensely red midribs, this plant offers a striking contrast that makes it a real focal point in any space. Its tropical appearance and imposing size make it an ideal centerpiece for large, bright spaces.
Origin: Musa maurelli is native to East Africa, more specifically to the mountainous regions of Ethiopia. It belongs to the Musaceae family and is mainly grown for its decorative foliage rather than its fruit, especially indoors.
Growth: Musa maurelli is a fast-growing plant that can reach heights of 2-3 meters indoors, with leaves up to 1.5 meters long. Although it is an herbaceous plant, its sturdy pseudotrunks and imposing leaves give it the appearance of a small tree.
Flowers: In indoor cultivation, Musa maurelli rarely flowers. If conditions are right, it may produce inflorescences in the form of large red or purple bracts, followed by small inedible fruits. However, flowering is exceptional in pots.
Light: Musa maurelli requires bright light, with several hours of direct sunlight every day to fully develop its intense colors. It can tolerate bright indirect light, but will not reveal its full potential in low-light conditions.
Watering: Water regularly to keep the substrate slightly moist, but make sure the soil is well drained to avoid water pooling at the roots. During the active growth period, frequent watering is necessary, while in winter the frequency can be reduced.
Substrate: A rich, well-drained, slightly acidic substrate is ideal for Musa maurelli. A mix of tropical potting soil with a good proportion of compost to improve drainage works well.
Toxicity: Musa maurelli is not toxic to pets or humans, making it a safe plant for homes with children or pets.

When the order leaves our greenhouses, the carrier takes over your order. We are not responsible for the risks involved in transport. Please contact the transport company directly.
You must be present when your package is delivered, as we require a signature upon delivery. It is your responsibility to send us an email prior to delivery to advise us of your absence. If you prefer delivery without a signature, please let us know when you place your order. However, you are solely responsible for any theft or damage due to bad weather.
Delivery price:
The prices are established according to the exact weight of the package, and not according to a pre-established charter. You can therefore be sure to pay the exact price of your order. We do business with several delivery companies, which allows us to offer you the best price and the fastest and most efficient carrier.
Preparation of orders:
An acknowledgement of receipt will be sent to you following the confirmation of your purchase. We ship everywhere in Canada only from Monday to Wednesday in order to avoid that our parcels stay at the post office on weekends. Local delivery is available from Monday to Saturday for the greater metropolitan area. You will receive your tracking number as soon as your order is processed and shipped, along with the expected delivery date. This number will allow you to know the status of your order in real time until its final destination. Please check your spam box if you do not receive a confirmation email. We do not give any delivery time due to the large quantity of orders to prepare.
Orders cancellation:
Do you want to cancel an order you have placed? We can only issue a refund if the order has not yet been prepared and/or shipped.
Combine your order with an existing one
We offer you the possibility to combine your purchases made on our online shop only if your order is not in preparation. Only orders to be shipped to the same address and name can be combined.
Winter Expedition
During the winter months, insulation packaging + heating package are included in the transport costs. In case of extreme cold, we reserve the right to suspend deliveries until suitable temperatures return.
Pickup in store:
In order to provide you with quality plants, we ask that you pick up your confirmed orders, ready for shop pick-up, within 4 days of your confirmation email.
Returns:
All our plants are final sales.
However, if you have received an order that is damaged, incorrect or has a phytosanitary problem, please contact us within 48 hours of receipt at info@serreslavoie.com. Please Include a photo of the product, its packaging and your order number. We will evaluate the situation and let you know afterwards if we proceed with the replacement of the product or a credit note.
