Haworthia truncata var. 'Lemon Lime' is a cultivated variety of Haworthia truncata, notable for its fleshy, distinctive leaves that feature an attractive two-tone colouration, mixing shades of light green (lemon) and yellow-green (lime). This succulent plant is prized for its unique appearance, with leaves that appear to have been cut clean at their tips, giving the impression that they have been truncated. It is native to South Africa and is particularly suitable for indoor succulent collections due to its compact size and moderate care needs.

Origin: Although Haworthia truncata is native to the semi-arid regions of South Africa, the 'Lemon Lime' variety is the result of horticultural breeding to accentuate certain colour and shape characteristics.

Growth: Haworthia truncata var. 'Lemon Lime' forms compact rosettes, with leaves that grow mostly horizontally or slightly upwards. The plant remains relatively small, making it ideal for growing in pots and succulent arrangements.

Flowers: Like other Haworthias, 'Lemon Lime' can produce thin flower stems bearing small white or pink flowers. The flowers are often subtle and don't attract as much attention as the plant's unique foliage.

Light: This variety prefers bright indirect light. It can tolerate direct sun exposure, but only during the less intense hours of the day. Too much light can cause bleaching or burning of the leaves.

Watering: Watering should be moderate, allowing the substrate to dry out completely between waterings. In winter, reduce watering to prevent root rot, mimicking the plant's natural dormant conditions.

Substrate: A well-draining mix is crucial. Using a cactus and succulent substrate, enriched with perlite and pumice, is ideal for ensuring good drainage and promoting plant health.

Toxicity: Haworthia truncata var. 'Lemon Lime' is generally considered non-toxic to humans and pets, making it a safe option for households.
