Euphorbia tithymaloides f. variegata, also known as Pedilanthus tithymaloides variegata or simply "zigzag plant" for its unusual zigzag growth, is a fascinating succulent with variegated leaves of white, green, and sometimes pink. This variety is particularly eye-catching for its colorful foliage and unique architectural shape.

Origin: Native to the tropical regions of North and South America, this spurge is adapted to a wide variety of warm climates and prefers bright environments.

Growth: Euphorbia tithymaloides f. variegata is a succulent plant that can grow up to 2 meters tall in its natural habitat, but it usually stays smaller indoors. Its growth is characterized by thick, succulent stems that form zigzag patterns, with leaves arranged alternately along the stems.

Flowers: This plant produces flowers that are relatively small and inconspicuous compared to its colorful foliage. The flowers, often red or pink in color, appear on the ends of the stems during the summer months.

Light: It prefers bright, indirect light, but can tolerate lower light levels. However, to maintain the liveliness of the variegation of its leaves, good light is required. Avoid direct sunlight which can burn the leaves.

Watering: As with most euphorbias, watering should be moderate. Allow the substrate to dry out completely between waterings and reduce watering during the winter. This plant is drought tolerant once established.

Substrate: A well-draining mixture is essential. Use a cactus and succulent substrate that includes coco coir, bark of various sizes, pumice, perlite, and charcoal to promote good drainage while retaining enough moisture.

Toxicity: Euphorbia tithymaloides f. variegata contains a latex that can be irritating to the skin and mucous membranes. It is poisonous if ingested, so it is important to handle this plant with care and keep it out of reach of children and pets.
