Euphorbia resinifera, commonly known as Resin Euphorbia or Moroccan Euphorbia, is a robust succulent plant native to the rocky slopes of Morocco. This species is remarkable for its thick, green columns arranged in compact clumps, and for its ability to produce an acid resin. This resin, once used in traditional medicine, contains powerful compounds that have attracted interest for their analgesic properties.

Origin: Euphorbia resinifera is endemic to Morocco, where it grows in arid conditions and can often be found on mountainous or rocky terrain.

Growth: This plant forms dense clumps up to 60 cm high. Its quadrangular stems, armed with pairs of spines along the edges, are characteristic of euphorbias. The stem segments are succulent, enabling the plant to store water for survival in its dry natural habitat.

Flowers: Euphorbia resinifera produces small yellow flowers grouped in cyathes, which appear in late spring or early summer. These flowers are often subtle and may not be immediately noticed due to the imposing nature of the plant itself.

Light: Prefers full sun to part shade. Bright light promotes healthy growth and helps maintain clump compactness.

Watering: As with many succulents, watering should be moderate. Allow the substrate to dry out completely between waterings to prevent root rot. In winter, reduce watering to match the plant's dormant period.

Substrate: Well-drained soil is crucial. Use a specific cactus mix to improve drainage.

Toxicity: Euphorbia resinifera sap is highly toxic and irritating to skin and eyes. It must be handled with care and precautions taken to avoid contact with the sap.
