Cereus jamacaru
Cereus jamacaru, often called Brazilian candle cactus, is an impressive species of cactus native to the semi-arid regions of Brazil. This cactus is known for its slender habit and ability to reach great heights, making it a standout in desert landscapes and cactus collections.
Origin: Cereus jamacaru is native to Brazil, where it grows mainly in semi-arid areas in the northeast. It is adapted to the extreme dryness and heat typical of its natural habitat.
Growth: This cactus can grow very tall, reaching up to 10 meters in the wild. It has a robust trunk with several branches that extend vertically, forming a characteristic candle-shaped silhouette. In cultivation, it can be a little more restrained, but remains a sizeable specimen.
Flowers: Cereus jamacaru produces large white or slightly pink flowers that open at night and close at dawn. These flowers are particularly attractive, reaching up to 15 cm in length. They are followed by edible red fruits that add further visual interest.
Light: As with most cacti, Cereus jamacaru requires direct sunlight to thrive. It's perfect for a sunny garden or an area that receives plenty of light throughout the day.
Watering: This cactus is very drought tolerant, requiring only occasional watering in the warmer months. It is essential to allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings to avoid root rot.
Substrate: A well-draining soil mix is crucial. Use a cactus-specific substrate, which can be enhanced with pumice or perlite to ensure adequate drainage.
Toxicity: Cereus jamacaru is not known to be toxic to humans or pets. However, like all cacti, it has spines that can be dangerous if not handled properly.

That's why we only work with reputable transport companies that offer affordable rates and allow you to track your package in real time to its final destination. When the order leaves our greenhouses, the carrier takes over your order. We are not responsible for the risks involved in transport. Please contact the transport company directly.
You must be present when your package is delivered, as we require a signature upon delivery. It is your responsibility to send us an email prior to delivery to advise us of your absence. If you prefer delivery without a signature, please let us know when you place your order. However, you are solely responsible for any theft or damage due to bad weather.
Delivery price:
The prices are established according to the exact weight of the package, and not according to a pre-established charter. You can therefore be sure to pay the exact price of your order. We do business with several delivery companies, which allows us to offer you the best price and the fastest and most efficient carrier.
Preparation of orders:
An acknowledgement of receipt will be sent to you following the confirmation of your purchase. We ship everywhere in Canada only from Monday to Wednesday in order to avoid that our parcels stay at the post office on weekends. Local delivery is available from Monday to Saturday for the greater metropolitan area. You will receive your tracking number as soon as your order is processed and shipped, along with the expected delivery date. This number will allow you to know the status of your order in real time until its final destination. Please check your spam box if you do not receive a confirmation email. We do not give any delivery time due to the large quantity of orders to prepare.
Orders cancellation:
Do you want to cancel an order you have placed? We can only issue a refund if the order has not yet been prepared and/or shipped.
Combine your order with an existing one
We offer you the possibility to combine your purchases made on our online shop only if your order is not in preparation. Only orders to be shipped to the same address and name can be combined.
Winter Expedition
During the winter months, insulation packaging + heating package are included in the transport costs. In case of extreme cold, we reserve the right to suspend deliveries until suitable temperatures return.
Pickup in store:
In order to provide you with quality plants, we ask that you pick up your confirmed orders, ready for shop pick-up, within 4 days of your confirmation email.
Returns:
All our plants are final sales.
However, if you have received an order that is damaged, incorrect or has a phytosanitary problem, please contact us within 48 hours of receipt at info@serreslavoie.com. Please Include a photo of the product, its packaging and your order number. We will evaluate the situation and let you know afterwards if we proceed with the replacement of the product or a credit note.
