Hoodia Gordonii
Hoodia gordonii is a succulent plant belonging to the Apocynaceae family, native to the arid regions of South Africa, Namibia and parts of Botswana. Traditionally used by the indigenous San peoples of these regions as an appetite suppressant during long hunts, this plant has gained international attention for its potential in weight management.
Origin: Hoodia gordonii grows naturally in the deserts of southern Africa, where it is adapted to survive in extremely dry and hot conditions. Its natural habitat and traditional uses have inspired research into its properties and potential as a dietary supplement.
Growth: The plant is slow-growing and produces fleshy green stems that resemble cacti, although it is not a cactus. The stems are covered with small thorns and can flower, producing purple flowers and emitting a strong odor to attract pollinators.
Flowers: Hoodia gordonii flowers are large, fleshy and purple to red in color, often compared to the smell of rotten meat, a strategy to attract specific pollinators to its desert habitat.
Light: This plant prefers bright, indirect light, with some protection from the hottest afternoon direct sun in warmer climates.
Watering: Watering should be moderate, allowing the substrate to dry out completely between waterings to prevent root rot. During winter, watering should be reduced considerably.
Substrate: A well-draining mix is crucial to the health of Hoodia gordonii. Use a cactus or succulent substrate, enriched with pumice or perlite to ensure good drainage.
Toxicity: Although traditionally used as an appetite suppressant, the efficacy and safety of Hoodia gordonii as a dietary supplement are debated, and its use is subject to regulation in many countries. It is advisable to consult a health professional before using it for this purpose.

When the order leaves our greenhouses, the carrier takes over your order. We are not responsible for the risks involved in transport. Please contact the transport company directly.
You must be present when your package is delivered, as we require a signature upon delivery. It is your responsibility to send us an email prior to delivery to advise us of your absence. If you prefer delivery without a signature, please let us know when you place your order. However, you are solely responsible for any theft or damage due to bad weather.
Delivery price:
The prices are established according to the exact weight of the package, and not according to a pre-established charter. You can therefore be sure to pay the exact price of your order. We do business with several delivery companies, which allows us to offer you the best price and the fastest and most efficient carrier.
Preparation of orders:
An acknowledgement of receipt will be sent to you following the confirmation of your purchase. We ship everywhere in Canada only from Monday to Wednesday in order to avoid that our parcels stay at the post office on weekends. Local delivery is available from Monday to Saturday for the greater metropolitan area. You will receive your tracking number as soon as your order is processed and shipped, along with the expected delivery date. This number will allow you to know the status of your order in real time until its final destination. Please check your spam box if you do not receive a confirmation email. We do not give any delivery time due to the large quantity of orders to prepare.
Orders cancellation:
Do you want to cancel an order you have placed? We can only issue a refund if the order has not yet been prepared and/or shipped.
Combine your order with an existing one
We offer you the possibility to combine your purchases made on our online shop only if your order is not in preparation. Only orders to be shipped to the same address and name can be combined.
Winter Expedition
During the winter months, insulation packaging + heating package are included in the transport costs. In case of extreme cold, we reserve the right to suspend deliveries until suitable temperatures return.
Pickup in store:
In order to provide you with quality plants, we ask that you pick up your confirmed orders, ready for shop pick-up, within 4 days of your confirmation email.
Returns:
All our plants are final sales.
However, if you have received an order that is damaged, incorrect or has a phytosanitary problem, please contact us within 48 hours of receipt at info@serreslavoie.com. Please Include a photo of the product, its packaging and your order number. We will evaluate the situation and let you know afterwards if we proceed with the replacement of the product or a credit note.
