Begonia masoniana, also known as Begonia mason, is a species of Begonia prized for its unique, textured foliage.

Origin : The Begonia masoniana is native to China, where it grows in the mountainous regions of the Himalayas.

Watering: This plant prefers regular but moderate watering. It is recommended to keep the soil slightly moist, allowing the top layer of soil to dry slightly between waterings. Avoid leaving the plant in stagnant water, as this can lead to root rot.

Light: Begonia masoniana prefers bright to medium light, but avoid direct exposure to hot sun, which can damage the leaves. Filtered light or a position near an east or west facing window is ideal.

Substrate: A well-draining houseplant mix is recommended for Begonia masoniana. A substrate of peat moss, perlite and potting soil is generally suitable.

Leaf Color: The leaves of Begonia masoniana are distinctive and attractive. They are asymmetrical in shape, dark green in color and covered with silver spot patterns on top, while the underside of the leaves are reddish purple.

Minimum temperature: This plant prefers warm temperatures and generally tolerates temperatures between 18°C and 24°C. It is sensitive to cold temperatures and should not be exposed to temperatures below 15°C.

Growth Rate: Begonia masoniana is a moderate grower. It can reach a height of about 30-45 cm with a similar spread. It is commonly grown as a houseplant and usually requires regular pruning to maintain its compact form.
