Sempervivum

Sempervivum is a succulent perennial plant belonging to the Crassulaceae family. It is found especially in the mountains of Europe.

This plant is also known as "houseleeks". It produces rosettes of leaves in a multitude of hues, comparing it to an artichoke. These plants adapt to most soils, but generally prefer full sun in a well-drained environment. Very robust, these plants successfully cross significant temperature differences. For this reason, some species of Sempervivum are very popular when placed as a ground cover.
