This heritage variety, dating back to the late 19th century, was given to Jean Prudent Robichaud of Canton-des-Robichaud, New Brunswick, by a Burnt Church Native woman. Preserved by his extended family, it is now offered by Norbert Robichaud of Bathurst.

In 2012, impressed by its exceptional qualities, a certain Madame Gauvin and Mr. Robichaud investigated its origins. Thanks to their efforts, Mr. Robichaud has shared seeds with the Atlantic Seed Bank and the Canadian Seed Library, helping to safeguard this jewel of plant heritage.

Hardy up to zone 4, this variety flowers all summer long, attracting many pollinators. Mr. Robichaud suggests direct sowing as soon as the soil is ready.
