Unique, this bitter-free cucumber is bristling with soft, non-prickly spines. Its taste is reminiscent of a cucumber with a hint of sweetness. It can be eaten raw like a cucumber or cooked like a zucchini, but without the skin. Each ovoid fruit is about 4 cm long and 3 cm wide and turns from green to yellow when ripe. The fruits are harvested while still green throughout the summer. The very young, walnut-sized fruits can be candied in vinegar.
