The Bismarck Chocolate pepper was created by Rocco Maltesi in Italy. It is the result of a cross between the Skunk Red pepper and the M.A. Wartryx. The pepper is exceptionally large, bumpy and mainly scorpion-shaped. Bismarck peppers ripen from green to red and have a good consistency. The level of heat or burn rivals other chillies supposedly the strongest in the world. If you can stand the heat, it has fruity flavor notes. Bismarck pepper plants are very productive and grow 3 to 4 feet tall.

Although the exact rating on the Scoville scale is not specified, it is indicated that the heat of Bismarck Chocolate rivals that of the hottest peppers in the world, suggesting that it is probably in excess of 1,000,000 Scoville units. For an accurate reference, it would be necessary to find additional sources or specific Scoville tests for Bismarck Chocolate chilli.

The name "Bismarck" comes from the largest battleships ever built by Germany, which were named after 18th-century German Chancellor Otto Van Bismarck.
