Graptopetalum filiferum is a species of succulent plant belonging to the Crassulaceae family. It is known for its attractive foliage and the long filaments or "hairs" that emerge from the edges of the leaves, giving the plant a unique, decorative appearance. Graptopetalum filiferum leaves are generally fleshy, rounded and arranged in rosettes. They may show shades of green, gray or purple, especially if the plant is exposed to bright light or stress, such as cool temperatures or limited watering.

Origin: Graptopetalum filiferum is native to the desert regions of Mexico, where it thrives in arid, rocky conditions.
Growth: This plant is moderate-growing and can spread in mats or clumps as new rosettes develop from the base or creeping stems.
Flowers: Graptopetalum filiferum produces inflorescences of small, star-shaped flowers, usually white or pink, which appear in spring. The flowers are borne on upright stems above the foliage.
Light: Prefers bright but indirect light. A certain amount of direct sunlight is beneficial and can help accentuate leaf colors, but excessive exposure can cause burning.
Watering: As with many succulents, moderate watering is necessary. Allow the substrate to dry out completely between waterings to prevent root rot. Reduce watering in winter.
Substrate: Well-draining soil is essential. Use a cactus and succulent mix of potting soil, coarse sand and perlite or gravel.
Temperature: Tolerates a range of temperatures, but must be protected from frost. Warm, dry conditions mimic its natural habitat.
