Euphorbia erythraeae f. variegata is a variegated form of Euphorbia erythraeae, itself a remarkable species within the vast Euphorbia genus. Native to East Africa, in particular Eritrea, from which it takes its name, this variety features an attractive combination of colors on its stems, combining shades of green with white or cream mottling, and sometimes even shades of pink. This variegation gives the plant a decorative appearance that is much appreciated by collectors.

Origin: Euphorbia erythraeae is native to the arid regions of East Africa, particularly Eritrea and neighboring areas, where it thrives in desert conditions. The variegated form has been developed through horticultural breeding to enhance its variegated foliage characteristics.

Growth: Like the type species, Euphorbia erythraeae f. variegata is slow-growing and can reach considerable height, forming upright columns reminiscent of a cactus. Mature specimens can develop several branches from the base, creating an impressive silhouette.

Flowers: This plant can produce small flowers grouped in cyathes, typical of the Euphorbia genus, although flowering is relatively rare in indoor cultivation. Flowers may appear at the apex of the stems, especially when grown in optimal conditions and after several years of growth.

Light: Prefers full sun to part shade. Bright light encourages healthy growth and maintains the intensity of the plant's variegated colors.

Watering: Watering should be moderate. Allow the substrate to dry out completely between waterings to prevent root rot. In winter, watering should be reduced to simulate the arid conditions of its natural habitat.

Substrate: Well-draining soil is essential. A cactus and succulent mix, with a good proportion of coarse sand or perlite, is ideal to ensure good drainage.

Toxicity: Like other members of the Euphorbia genus, Euphorbia erythraeae f. variegata contains a milky sap that can be toxic and irritating to the skin and eyes. Handle with care and keep out of reach of children and pets.
