Euphorbia aeruginosa

9.99 $

Euphorbia aeruginosa is a species of succulent plant belonging to the Euphorbiaceae family. It is characterized by its small size, spiny stems and leaves that can take on a blue-green or green-gray hue. Like other members of the Euphorbia genus, it produces a milky sap when cut or injured, which is toxic and can cause skin irritation or other allergic reactions.

Origin: Euphorbia aeruginosa is native to South Africa, where it thrives in semi-arid environments. It is adapted to life in harsh conditions, with specific adaptations for water conservation.
Growth: This euphorbia is slow-growing and can form compact clumps over time. Stems are cylindrical, upright or slightly curved, with spines along the edges.
Flowers: Euphorbia aeruginosa produces yellow or green inflorescences, known as cyathes, which usually appear in spring. These "flowers" are actually compound structures, typical of euphorbias, grouping together several reproductive organs surrounded by a colorful involucre.
Light: It prefers bright light and can tolerate exposure to direct sunlight, especially if gradually acclimatized. Insufficient light may cause the stems to stretch.
Watering: Requires moderate watering during the growing season, allowing the substrate to dry out completely between waterings. In winter, reduce watering considerably to simulate the natural dry conditions of its habitat.
Substrate: Well-draining soil is crucial. Use a cactus and succulent mix, with pumice, perlite or gravel, to ensure good drainage.
Temperature: Tolerates a range of temperatures, but must be protected from frost. Warm, dry conditions are ideal for its growth.
