Othonna capensis
Othonna capensis, often called "ruby necklace" or "chain of little spikes", is an attractive succulent plant native to South Africa. It is prized for its hanging stems and small, glossy leaves that can vary from green to purple, especially in direct sunlight. This plant is ideal for hanging baskets or as a hanging plant in succulent arrangements.
Origin: Native to South Africa, Othonna capensis is adapted to dry, rocky climates, making it robust and drought-resistant.
Growth: Othonna capensis is fast-growing and produces drooping stems up to several meters long. The leaves are small, round and pearl-like. Stems and leaves can take on an attractive purple hue in sufficient sunlight.
Flowers: This plant produces bright yellow flowers that resemble small daisies. The flowers appear mainly in autumn and winter, providing a striking contrast to the dark foliage.
Light: Othonna capensis thrives in full sun to part shade. Bright light is essential to maintain vibrant leaf color and encourage flowering. Indoors, a window with good sun exposure is ideal.
Watering: As with most succulents, watering should be moderate. Let the substrate dry out completely between waterings to avoid root rot. In winter, reduce watering as the plant goes into dormancy.
Substrate: A well-draining mix is crucial for Othonna capensis. Use a cactus and succulent mix that includes perlite, pumice and coarse sand to ensure good drainage.
Toxicity: Othonna capensis is generally considered non-toxic to humans and pets, making it suitable for use in areas frequented by children and animals.

When the order leaves our greenhouses, the carrier takes over your order. We are not responsible for the risks involved in transport. Please contact the transport company directly.
You must be present when your package is delivered, as we require a signature upon delivery. It is your responsibility to send us an email prior to delivery to advise us of your absence. If you prefer delivery without a signature, please let us know when you place your order. However, you are solely responsible for any theft or damage due to bad weather.
Delivery price:
The prices are established according to the exact weight of the package, and not according to a pre-established charter. You can therefore be sure to pay the exact price of your order. We do business with several delivery companies, which allows us to offer you the best price and the fastest and most efficient carrier.
Preparation of orders:
An acknowledgement of receipt will be sent to you following the confirmation of your purchase. We ship everywhere in Canada only from Monday to Wednesday in order to avoid that our parcels stay at the post office on weekends. Local delivery is available from Monday to Saturday for the greater metropolitan area. You will receive your tracking number as soon as your order is processed and shipped, along with the expected delivery date. This number will allow you to know the status of your order in real time until its final destination. Please check your spam box if you do not receive a confirmation email. We do not give any delivery time due to the large quantity of orders to prepare.
Orders cancellation:
Do you want to cancel an order you have placed? We can only issue a refund if the order has not yet been prepared and/or shipped.
Combine your order with an existing one
We offer you the possibility to combine your purchases made on our online shop only if your order is not in preparation. Only orders to be shipped to the same address and name can be combined.
Winter Expedition
During the winter months, insulation packaging + heating package are included in the transport costs. In case of extreme cold, we reserve the right to suspend deliveries until suitable temperatures return.
Pickup in store:
In order to provide you with quality plants, we ask that you pick up your confirmed orders, ready for shop pick-up, within 4 days of your confirmation email.
Returns:
All our plants are final sales.
However, if you have received an order that is damaged, incorrect or has a phytosanitary problem, please contact us within 48 hours of receipt at info@serreslavoie.com. Please Include a photo of the product, its packaging and your order number. We will evaluate the situation and let you know afterwards if we proceed with the replacement of the product or a credit note.
