Origin: Lithops are native to the arid and semi-arid regions of South Africa, where they have evolved to resemble pebbles to escape predators.
Watering: Water very sparingly, allowing the substrate to dry out completely between waterings. They generally have a dormant period when they need no watering at all.
Light: Lithops prefer bright to direct light. Make sure they receive enough light to keep their growth compact.
Substrate: Use a potting mix specially designed for lithops, with excellent drainage to prevent root rot.
Temperature: They prefer warm temperatures during the growing period, but can tolerate cooler temperatures during dormancy.
Growth: Lithops are very slow-growing and form pairs of fleshy, pebble-shaped leaves, hence their name.
