Pachira aquatica, often called silver tree or Guiana chestnut, is a popular houseplant, appreciated for its shiny palm-shaped leaves and decorative braided trunk. This plant is often associated with good luck and prosperity, making it a frequent choice for offices and homes. It adds an exotic, verdant touch to any interior space.

Origin: Pachira aquatica is native to the wetlands of Central and South America, particularly the Amazon basin. In its natural habitat, it can reach heights of up to 18 meters, but indoors it remains much smaller, generally between 1 and 2 meters.

Growth: Pachira aquatica is a fast-growing plant that can reach several meters in height indoors if conditions are optimal. Its large palmate leaves, composed of five to seven leaflets, are bright green and add a tropical touch to decoration. The trunk is often braided in young plants for aesthetic reasons, and this braid can become thicker over time. This plant can also produce flowers indoors, but this is quite rare.

Flowers: In its natural habitat, Pachira aquatica produces large, fragrant white flowers that open at night. The flowers are followed by large, capsule-shaped fruits containing edible seeds. However, indoor flowering is rare, and the plant is mainly cultivated for its foliage and braided trunk.

Light: Pachira aquatica prefers bright but indirect light. It tolerates low-light conditions well, making it adaptable to a variety of indoor situations. However, for optimum growth, place it near a window where it will receive indirect or filtered light.

Watering: This plant likes evenly moist soil, but it's essential to avoid soggy conditions. Water regularly, allowing the substrate to dry slightly between waterings. In winter, reduce watering as growth slows. Pachira aquatica tolerates low-humidity conditions well, but prefers moderate ambient humidity.

Substrate: Use a well-draining potting soil, preferably a tropical plant mix. A slightly acidic to neutral substrate is ideal. Make sure the pot has good drainage to avoid water accumulation at the base, which could lead to root rot.

Toxicity: Pachira aquatica is considered non-toxic to humans and pets. It is therefore safe to have in homes with children and pets.

When the order leaves our greenhouses, the carrier takes over your order. We are not responsible for the risks involved in transport. Please contact the transport company directly. 

You must be present when your package is delivered, as we require a signature upon delivery. It is your responsibility to send us an email prior to delivery to advise us of your absence. If you prefer delivery without a signature, please let us know when you place your order. However, you are solely responsible for any theft or damage due to bad weather.

Delivery price:

    The prices are established according to the exact weight of the package, and not according to a pre-established charter. You can therefore be sure to pay the exact price of your order. We do business with several delivery companies, which allows us to offer you the best price and the fastest and most efficient carrier.

    Preparation of orders:

    An acknowledgement of receipt will be sent to you following the confirmation of your purchase. We ship everywhere in Canada only from Monday to Wednesday in order to avoid that our parcels stay at the post office on weekends. Local delivery is available from Monday to Saturday for the greater metropolitan area. You will receive your tracking number as soon as your order is processed and shipped, along with the expected delivery date. This number will allow you to know the status of your order in real time until its final destination. Please check your spam box if you do not receive a confirmation email. We do not give any delivery time due to the large quantity of orders to prepare.

    Orders cancellation:

    Do you want to cancel an order you have placed? We can only issue a refund if the order has not yet been prepared and/or shipped.

    Combine your order with an existing one

    We offer you the possibility to combine your purchases made on our online shop only if your order is not in preparation. Only orders to be shipped to the same address and name can be combined. 

    Winter Expedition

    During the winter months, insulation packaging + heating package are included in the transport costs. In case of extreme cold, we reserve the right to suspend deliveries until suitable temperatures return.

    Pickup in store:

    In order to provide you with quality plants, we ask that you pick up your confirmed orders, ready for shop pick-up, within 4 days of your confirmation email. 

    Returns:

    All our plants are final sales. 

    However, if you have received an order that is damaged, incorrect or has a phytosanitary problem, please contact us within 48 hours of receipt at info@serreslavoie.com. Please Include a photo of the product, its packaging and your order number. We will evaluate the situation and let you know afterwards if we proceed with the replacement of the product or a credit note.
