Leuchtenbergia principis
Leuchtenbergia principis is a unique succulent plant and the only species in the Leuchtenbergia genus. It is distinguished by its unusual appearance, combining characteristics of both agaves and cacti. Native to the desert regions of northern and central Mexico, this plant is highly prized by cactus collectors for its distinctive shape and long life.
Origin: Leuchtenbergia principis is endemic to Mexico, where it grows in arid environments, often in limestone or rocky soils. Its ability to survive in extreme conditions is typical of plants adapted to life in deserts.
Growth: This slow-growing plant forms a central body from which emerge long, finger-like tubers, hence its nickname of pickle cactus. The tubers are in fact highly modified leaves, terminating in areoles from which spines grow. With age, the plant can develop a woody trunk.
Flowers: Leuchtenbergia principis produces yellow flowers, sometimes with a reddish center, which appear at the top of tubers in summer. The flowers can last several days and are often followed by the formation of small fruits.
Light: Prefers bright, full sunlight. Adequate sun exposure is essential to promote healthy growth and encourage flowering.
Watering: Watering should be moderate during the growing season, allowing the substrate to dry out completely between waterings. In winter, reduce watering to allow the plant to go through a period of rest, which is crucial to its health.
Substrate: A well-draining mix is crucial to prevent root rot. Use a cactus substrate that can include perlite and pumice, to ensure good drainage.
Toxicity: Leuchtenbergia principis is not known to be toxic to humans or pets. However, its spines can be prickly, and the plant should be handled with care.

That's why we only work with reputable transport companies that offer affordable rates and allow you to track your package in real time to its final destination. When the order leaves our greenhouses, the carrier takes over your order. We are not responsible for the risks involved in transport. Please contact the transport company directly.
You must be present when your package is delivered, as we require a signature upon delivery. It is your responsibility to send us an email prior to delivery to advise us of your absence. If you prefer delivery without a signature, please let us know when you place your order. However, you are solely responsible for any theft or damage due to bad weather.
Delivery price:
The prices are established according to the exact weight of the package, and not according to a pre-established charter. You can therefore be sure to pay the exact price of your order. We do business with several delivery companies, which allows us to offer you the best price and the fastest and most efficient carrier.
Preparation of orders:
An acknowledgement of receipt will be sent to you following the confirmation of your purchase. We ship everywhere in Canada only from Monday to Wednesday in order to avoid that our parcels stay at the post office on weekends. Local delivery is available from Monday to Saturday for the greater metropolitan area. You will receive your tracking number as soon as your order is processed and shipped, along with the expected delivery date. This number will allow you to know the status of your order in real time until its final destination. Please check your spam box if you do not receive a confirmation email. We do not give any delivery time due to the large quantity of orders to prepare.
Orders cancellation:
Do you want to cancel an order you have placed? We can only issue a refund if the order has not yet been prepared and/or shipped.
Combine your order with an existing one
We offer you the possibility to combine your purchases made on our online shop only if your order is not in preparation. Only orders to be shipped to the same address and name can be combined.
Winter Expedition
During the winter months, insulation packaging + heating package are included in the transport costs. In case of extreme cold, we reserve the right to suspend deliveries until suitable temperatures return.
Pickup in store:
In order to provide you with quality plants, we ask that you pick up your confirmed orders, ready for shop pick-up, within 4 days of your confirmation email.
Returns:
All our plants are final sales.
However, if you have received an order that is damaged, incorrect or has a phytosanitary problem, please contact us within 48 hours of receipt at info@serreslavoie.com. Please Include a photo of the product, its packaging and your order number. We will evaluate the situation and let you know afterwards if we proceed with the replacement of the product or a credit note.
