Ficus elastica
Ficus elastica, also known as rubber or rubber fig, is a popular houseplant for its broad, thick, glossy foliage. Its leaves, often dark green or tinged with shades of red, offer a lush, tropical look that adds a touch of elegance to any space. Easy to care for, Ficus elastica is ideal for both modern and classic interiors.
Origin: Native to the tropical regions of Southeast Asia, particularly India and Indonesia, Ficus elastica has long been cultivated as a houseplant for its hardiness and decorative foliage.
Growth: Indoors, Ficus elastica has a moderate growth habit and can reach heights of 1.5 to 3 meters, depending on growing conditions and pot size. It has an upright habit and can be pruned to maintain a compact, bushy form.
Flowers: Ficus elastica rarely flowers indoors. If flowers do appear, they are small and insignificant. This plant is mainly appreciated for its spectacular foliage rather than for its flowering.
Light: This plant prefers bright but indirect light. It tolerates low-light conditions, but will grow more vigorously in moderate to high light. It is important to avoid direct sunlight, which can burn the thick leaves.
Watering: Water regularly, allowing the substrate to dry slightly between waterings. Ficus elastica prefers slightly moist soil, but it's essential to avoid excess water, which could lead to root rot. In winter, reduce watering to allow for slower growth.
Substrate: A well-draining substrate is recommended for this plant. Use a mixture of houseplant potting soil with perlite or coarse sand to improve drainage and prevent excessive moisture problems.
Toxicity: Ficus elastica is toxic to pets, especially cats and dogs, if ingested. It can cause irritation of the mouth, throat and stomach, as well as vomiting. It is therefore advisable to keep it out of the reach of pets.

When the order leaves our greenhouses, the carrier takes over your order. We are not responsible for the risks involved in transport. Please contact the transport company directly.
You must be present when your package is delivered, as we require a signature upon delivery. It is your responsibility to send us an email prior to delivery to advise us of your absence. If you prefer delivery without a signature, please let us know when you place your order. However, you are solely responsible for any theft or damage due to bad weather.
Delivery price:
The prices are established according to the exact weight of the package, and not according to a pre-established charter. You can therefore be sure to pay the exact price of your order. We do business with several delivery companies, which allows us to offer you the best price and the fastest and most efficient carrier.
Preparation of orders:
An acknowledgement of receipt will be sent to you following the confirmation of your purchase. We ship everywhere in Canada only from Monday to Wednesday in order to avoid that our parcels stay at the post office on weekends. Local delivery is available from Monday to Saturday for the greater metropolitan area. You will receive your tracking number as soon as your order is processed and shipped, along with the expected delivery date. This number will allow you to know the status of your order in real time until its final destination. Please check your spam box if you do not receive a confirmation email. We do not give any delivery time due to the large quantity of orders to prepare.
Orders cancellation:
Do you want to cancel an order you have placed? We can only issue a refund if the order has not yet been prepared and/or shipped.
Combine your order with an existing one
We offer you the possibility to combine your purchases made on our online shop only if your order is not in preparation. Only orders to be shipped to the same address and name can be combined.
Winter Expedition
During the winter months, insulation packaging + heating package are included in the transport costs. In case of extreme cold, we reserve the right to suspend deliveries until suitable temperatures return.
Pickup in store:
In order to provide you with quality plants, we ask that you pick up your confirmed orders, ready for shop pick-up, within 4 days of your confirmation email.
Returns:
All our plants are final sales.
However, if you have received an order that is damaged, incorrect or has a phytosanitary problem, please contact us within 48 hours of receipt at info@serreslavoie.com. Please Include a photo of the product, its packaging and your order number. We will evaluate the situation and let you know afterwards if we proceed with the replacement of the product or a credit note.
