Origin: Calathea is native to the rainforests of South America, where it thrives naturally in shady, humid environments. Burle Marx' is a variety named after the famous Brazilian landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx, known for his love of tropical plants.
Growth: This plant has a moderate growth habit, generally reaching 30-60 cm in height. Its leaves are broad, oval, with mottled patterns of dark and light green, often with touches of silver, accented by a purple reverse. The complex patterns and deep colors of the leaves make it a highly prized houseplant.
Flowers: Calathea 'Burle Marx' occasionally produces small white flowers, but these are rarely seen in indoor cultivation. The main attraction of this plant is its decorative foliage.
Light: This plant prefers bright but indirect light. It can tolerate partial shade, but its colors will be brighter under moderate indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can burn the leaves.
Watering: Water regularly, keeping the soil evenly moist but not soggy. Calathea likes high ambient humidity, which can be maintained by using a humidifier or placing the plant on a tray of damp pebbles. During winter, reduce watering, but take care not to let the soil dry out completely.
Substrate: Use a light, well-draining potting mix of houseplant potting soil mixed with perlite or peat moss. Make sure the pot has good drainage to avoid water accumulation.
Toxicity: Calathea 'Burle Marx' is non-toxic to pets or humans, making it an excellent choice for homes with pets.

When the order leaves our greenhouses, the carrier takes over your order. We are not responsible for the risks involved in transport. Please contact the transport company directly.
You must be present when your package is delivered, as we require a signature upon delivery. It is your responsibility to send us an email prior to delivery to advise us of your absence. If you prefer delivery without a signature, please let us know when you place your order. However, you are solely responsible for any theft or damage due to bad weather.
Delivery price:
The prices are established according to the exact weight of the package, and not according to a pre-established charter. You can therefore be sure to pay the exact price of your order. We do business with several delivery companies, which allows us to offer you the best price and the fastest and most efficient carrier.
Preparation of orders:
An acknowledgement of receipt will be sent to you following the confirmation of your purchase. We ship everywhere in Canada only from Monday to Wednesday in order to avoid that our parcels stay at the post office on weekends. Local delivery is available from Monday to Saturday for the greater metropolitan area. You will receive your tracking number as soon as your order is processed and shipped, along with the expected delivery date. This number will allow you to know the status of your order in real time until its final destination. Please check your spam box if you do not receive a confirmation email. We do not give any delivery time due to the large quantity of orders to prepare.
Orders cancellation:
Do you want to cancel an order you have placed? We can only issue a refund if the order has not yet been prepared and/or shipped.
Combine your order with an existing one
We offer you the possibility to combine your purchases made on our online shop only if your order is not in preparation. Only orders to be shipped to the same address and name can be combined.
Winter Expedition
During the winter months, insulation packaging + heating package are included in the transport costs. In case of extreme cold, we reserve the right to suspend deliveries until suitable temperatures return.
Pickup in store:
In order to provide you with quality plants, we ask that you pick up your confirmed orders, ready for shop pick-up, within 4 days of your confirmation email.
Returns:
All our plants are final sales.
However, if you have received an order that is damaged, incorrect or has a phytosanitary problem, please contact us within 48 hours of receipt at info@serreslavoie.com. Please Include a photo of the product, its packaging and your order number. We will evaluate the situation and let you know afterwards if we proceed with the replacement of the product or a credit note.
