Echeveria setosa: Echeveria setosa, commonly known as Echeveria velue because of its unique texture, is an attractive succulent plant belonging to the Crassulaceae family. It is highly prized for its dense foliage and compact rosettes of fleshy leaves, covered with fine hairs that give them a downy or hairy appearance. This distinctive feature helps protect the plant from excessive evaporation, an advantage in its natural arid habitat.

Origin: Echeveria setosa is native to Mexico, where it thrives in rocky, semi-arid environments. Its ability to store water in its leaves enables it to survive in drought conditions.
Growth: This plant is moderate-growing and can reach a diameter of around 15 cm. Its rosettes are composed of green leaves, sometimes with slightly red tips if exposed to bright light or water stress.
Flowers: Echeveria setosa produces upright flower stalks bearing bell-shaped flowers, generally orange-red with yellow tips. Flowering takes place mainly in spring or early summer.
Light: Prefers bright but indirect light. Direct sunlight can be tolerated for part of the day, but protection from the afternoon sun is recommended to avoid burns.
Watering: As with many succulents, moderate watering is necessary. Allow the substrate to dry out completely between waterings to prevent root rot. Reduce watering during the winter months.
Substrate: Well-draining soil is crucial. Use a cactus and succulent mix of potting soil, coarse sand and perlite or gravel to ensure good drainage.
Temperature: Tolerates a range of temperatures, but must be protected from frost. Prefers warm, dry conditions.
