Tradescantia fluminensis f. 'Variegata' has light green leaves streaked with white to cream and pale yellow. Occasionally there are leaves that are entirely white, but these leaves cannot thrive due to the lack of chlorophyll. It is advisable to remove the all-white and all-green leaves to maintain the variegation of your plant. Tradescantia fluminensis f. 'Variegata' is a resilient houseplant that adapts to different growing conditions. Like most Tradescantia, this plant grows quickly and has a drooping habit. It is perfect for hanging baskets. It requires simple maintenance, making it a beautiful addition to any collection.

Tradescantia fluminensis species and cultivars have slightly thinner leaves and stems than their Tradescantiazebrina cousins, and they prefer very bright light, but not direct full sun, which can damage their thin leaves. They also root very quickly and easily in water or soil and are easy to propagate. They are sensitive to excess water and the stems will rot if the soil stays wet for too long, so provide a draining substrate.
