Agave havardiana is an attractive succulent plant, adapted to xerophytic (drought-resistant) conditions. It is ideal for arid gardens and warm regions, but be aware of its thorny tips when handling.

  • Origin: Native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico.
  • Watering: Low, drought-resistant. Allow soil to dry completely between waterings.
  • Brightness: Full sun to bright light.
  • Substrate: Well-drained, sandy or rocky soil.
  • Flower: Produces an impressive floral spike with yellow flowers, but the plant dies after flowering.
  • Temperature: Tolerates warm temperatures, but can survive frosts down to -20C.
  • Growth: Slow.
  • Toxicity: Non-toxic, but thorny tips can be dangerous. Use caution when handling.
