The Philodendron hederaceum Micans' is a climbing vine (hederaceum meaning "like an ivy"). This philodendron is known for both the velvety texture and the color of its iridescent foliage. Indeed, when new leaves (heart-shaped) emerge, they are pink-purple. As they mature, they turn to a deep iridescent green with a velvety finish and a purple-red underside. Depending on how the light falls on the plant, the leaves can appear dark green, light green or even bronze. We most often use it drooping in a hanging basket, but at each node of its stem are small spikes that allow it to cling to surfaces. The leaves of 'Micans' will tend to get bigger if you make it climb rather than fall. You should not hesitate to prune the stems to keep this philodendron in a bushy habit.
