Stratum for plants

Sourced from the mineral-rich foothills of Japan's famous Mount Aso volcano, Fluval Stratum is the ideal substrate to stimulate plant growth. Plant roots easily penetrate and spread through the substrate, allowing plants to obtain a variety of key nutrients readily available to make them thrive.

The light, non-compacting, porous structure of the substrate is also very beneficial for nitrifying bacteria, which quickly colonize the large porous surface, providing optimal water quality for the plants.

The intrinsic properties of Fluval Stratum will help maintain a neutral to slightly acidic pH, ideal for most plant or shrimp species normally kept in planted aquariums. Fluval Stratum also provides an ideal refuge for young shrimp, allowing them to escape predation until they are large enough to emerge.

This highly attractive substrate will not discolor the water and helps control the organic discoloration that is usually present when natural driftwood is used.
